GFWC Temple Terrace Woman's Club Education Department

Our club supports city's local schools: Lewis, Temple Terrace and Riverhills Elementary, Greco Middle School, King High School and Erwin Technical Center and the University of South Florida.

“Exposures” (to art) Program in Riverhills and Temple Terrace Elementary Schools was started in 1969. Prints of famous paintings were framed and hung at the schools.  Films and speakers were used to introduce the children to the artists’ works.
Many former school teachers in the club volunteer at the schools (at one time there were 24 certified retired teachers in The Club). Non-teachers also tutor and work with special programs such as; the PTA, PTSA, King High Math Team.
We have sponsored students to HOBY (Hugh O’Brien’s Youth) which is a nationwide program that holds Leadership Conferences and seminars for children from First Grade to the 10th Grades and have awarded scholarships to students at Erwin Technical Center and the University of South Florida's History Department.
We collect "Labels and Boxtops for Education" and participate in many other educational projects throughout our area, such as "Ed-Venture" with Hillsborough Public Schools.
Many members volunteer at the Temple Terrace Public Library Book Nook and we are a corporate member of their Friends of the Library.
