OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Each year the GFWC Temple Terrace Woman’s Club organized this project through Samaritan’s Purse. Each box is wrapped and filled according to sex and age. The Club works with the Temple Terrace Juniorettes to fill the boxes with stuffed toys, small clothing items, hygiene item, school supplies and books. GFWC Temple Terrace Junior Woman’s Club added boxes and all were delivered to the pick-up point.
P.E.T.
PET’s are hand activated wheelchairs especially made for the needs of handicapped people in third world countries. They are locally made and the organization is entirely volunteer. Our Club voted to add a PET wheelchair to our budget.
HEIFER INTERNATIONAL
The Temple Terrace Woman’s Club members sent donations to the program in lieu of exchanging gifts during the holidays. Members involved in social groups such as bridge, bunco and mah jongg donated a portion of their dues/winnings to purchase a Heifer animal.
CHRISTMAS PROJECT
We blankets purchased at a local department store and deliver them to Migrant Camp workers in southern Hillsborough County.
ADOPT A SOLDIER
We have adopted a sailor off the coast of Iraq and 2 Marines. Members are committed to sending cards and letters and care packages each month. The Junior’s and Juniorettes helped us collect items to be sent in care packages and also to make cards to send for the Holidays. This year we are also making no-sew blankets to send for Christmas.
CHILD REACH INTERNATIONAL
A member sponsors two children through the club. It is done through a member to ensure continuity.
SISTER CITY PROGRAM
Our Club initiated this program and worked with out city to host visitors from Eastleigh, England for two weeks.
TRAVELING BEAR PROJECT
A bear design is colored by 5th graders from Lewis Elementary in Temple Terrace. Travelers will take the bear and take a picture of the bear with historic sites. Teachers use these colored bears for geography lessons.
WORLD FOOD DAY
We celebrate this day by asking members to bring in canned goods, oil, beans and rice for the migrants in South Hillsborough County.
TRICK OR TREAT FOR UNICEF
Our committee asks members to bring in spare change and sends a donation to UNICEF from Trick or Treat boxes.
RESCUE AND RESTORE
We support the Florida coalition against human trafficking by donating clothing and other items as requested by the advocacy center.
